The Confucius Temple, A Perfection Place to Fool Around in Tainan

I had a call from France for inquiring my company's products.  The mister mentioned he stayed in Taiwan for three months and visited most of temples in Tainan.

Yes!  Temple is a strong image for Tainan.  We natives live with temples around us.  They are places to worship and playgrounds to take a break.  We are used to having celebration events and festivals of big and small temples.  Moreover, there is a saying, why the weather in Tainan is good?  Because we have so many gods and goddesses to protect us!

Tainan, the most ancient city in Taiwan, make most of Taiwan people agree that there is a certain "Tainanese" casualty and elegance.  As a native, I love Tainan not only because she is my hometown but also this is a wonderful city to enjoy life.  Evidence?  There are several places in this city perfect for hanging around no matter you are in good or blue mood.  The friendly and welcome atmosphere in these spaces make visitors comfortable to stay, relax, enjoy what you see or feel, and even further, to reflect.  Among them, my favorite one (I believe it is also many people's number one choice) is related to the temple-- the "Confucius Temple".
Sign board on the front door means "The first school in Taiwan".
(Of course it is the point-of-view of Chinese people, nothing to do with aborigines.)
The sign board located next to the front door and written in Han and Manchu words.
Which means no one can ride a horse into the temple, to show the respect to Confucius.

Trees and ancient buildings make here a wonderful place to fool around.
A NGO is having an event this afternoon in the play ground of Chung-Yi Elemetary School.
Tourists are easy to be found here.  The ones with cameras (except me).
Banyan trees are important in Tainan.  You can find many beautiful ones in temples or open areas in this city.
Look what natives are doing here.  Daydreaming...
Resting and dating...
Dog Walking...
Live concert.

The Confucius Temple is the first Confucius Temple in Taiwan. The yard is connecting with the play ground of Chung-Yi Elementary School (忠義國小) next door to become a big open space welcoming people to get in.  Old and flourish banyan trees stand around the space to offer generously shades to attract people to stay. Benches beneath shades are the multiple-functional item here. For gossiping, taking a nap, resting, vendor's booth, etc. The play ground, of course, is a good choice for exercising.  Here is for family, lovers, single person, and even for animals.  A woman from Japan loves here very very much.  Because this is the place she can feel so safe and comfortable without worrying other people's judgements.

Next to the temple is Chung-Yi Elementary School.
The building was builded in Japan-rule period.
Japanese brought in western and Japanese systems and technologies while colonizing Taiwan.

For Tourist, this is also a must-go site in Tainan.  As I mentioned, the Confucius Temple here is the first Confucius Temple in Taiwan.  You can easily understand the standard settlement of the Confucius Temple.  The architecture is a beauty of wood craft. "Chi" here is wonderful.  Just come here to fool around. This is a interesting and easy-access place.

The roof of the main temple.
Enjoy the sunshine of south Taiwan.

It is too hot?!  Lily Fruit Store locates just cross the road of the temple.
You must have "crushed ice" here.  There are many flavors for you to choose.  Try the ones marked with star.

  3. 喂!可能擺錯位置了,相片內除了背景那棵枯死的老榕樹外,好像看不到活的banyan了...擺到上一張也許比較好(相片與文字交換)~
